I have been making jewelry since I was 12 years old. I love to combine vastly different textures and surfaces to see if I can make them work together. I have always sculpted and painted too. I find these means of expression inextricably intertwined with my jewelry making. Each feeds the other, and they all come from the same core fascinations with nature, materials and people.

I'm originally from Tulsa Oklahoma, the heart of the Bible Belt and suburban Americana. Growing up, I was always fascinated by the art and diversity of New York. I moved here when I was 18 to go to school. I went to The Cooper Union for The Advancement of Science and Art, I got my BFA in 1992 and never left the city (except for one year I spent in The Netherlands.) I've been showing my art in nonprofit and commercial galleries around the city and the country since I graduated. I have received several grants; most recently a New York Foundation of the Arts Fellowship for sculpture. I officially began my jewelry business in 1997. That was around the same time that I got engaged to my wonderful husband Gideon. Gideon is also an artist, he is a children's book illustrator, a musician, a painter, and an animation designer. We often spend our days together working on our separate projects in our Brooklyn studio/apartment.
